Glide into the new year

January is the perfect time to embrace one of the most complete winter sports: cross-country skiing. And here in the Mont-Tremblant region, we’re spoiled: our local trails offer everything from technical climbs to peaceful forest routes.
Big benefits
Cross-country skiing delivers a full-body workout with minimal joint impact. Every stride works the coordination and strengthens the hips, core, shoulders, and stabilizing muscles that so many of us rely on year-round.
These qualities also transfer to other sports like running, cycling and hiking. As a kinesiologist, I often remind clients that good skiing begins before they even set foot on snow: a bit of thoracic mobility, glute activation, and balance work can help the glide feel smoother and reduce strain.
Our trails, our playground
Each area around Mont-Tremblant has its own character. Domaine Saint-Bernard is ideal for refining technique on wide, well-groomed tracks. Mont-Tremblant National Park offers rolling terrain where climbs challenge aerobic capacity and descents test stability. And for more relaxed outings, the P’tit Train du Nord and the multi-use trail running along the river provide gentle, meditative corridors that are magical after fresh snowfall.
January often brings the best conditions of the season: crisp snow, cooler temperatures, and enough daylight to squeeze in a late-afternoon session.
Fall in love with winter
So bundle up and head out. Let your stride lengthen as the forest opens, slow down near the river, and feel the rhythm settle in. Cross-country skiing is more than a workout — it’s a way to reconnect with nature, explore our region from a new perspective, and celebrate the quiet beauty that makes Mont-Tremblant such an inspiring place to live and train.est, happiest self. So, drop by, get the ball rolling and start gaining momentum.
