Move better

“I’ll start when I’m in shape.” It’s something I hear almost every week as a kinesiologist, and it says a lot about how people view movement.
From June 1 to 7, it’s National Kinesiology Week: a reminder that movement isn’t the end goal; it’s where we begin. Still, many hesitate to get started, often because they feel unprepared or assume exercise has to be intense or uncomfortable. Too often, the idea of “getting in shape” becomes the very thing that keeps people from starting at all.
In reality, that’s rarely the case. Recently, I worked with a client – recovering from an injury – who was nervous about going up the stairs. After a few weeks of working together, without focusing on performance, he regained confidence and was moving comfortably again. It wasn’t a dramatic transformation, but it was a meaningful one. The small, everyday wins – less pain, more ease, renewed confidence – are what truly stand out.
That’s where kinesiology makes a difference: by making movement accessible, progressive, and tailored to each individual. Whether the goal is to reduce pain, improve fitness, or simply feel better day to day, every starting point is valid, and worth building from.
Movement doesn’t have to be intense. It’s about building simple, sustainable habits over time. Progress often begins with something small, repeated consistently. What matters most is getting started.
As part of National Kinesiology Week, the RobFit Experience on June 6 offers a chance to try this approach firsthand. Join us at 10 a.m. for a free 90-minute group circuit session (ages 12+).
Because in the end, we don’t move because we’re in shape. We get in shape because we start moving.
