The snowball effect

It’s winter in the Laurentians. Snow blankets the ground, and I feel like building a snowman.
I start by scooping up a handful of snow, shaping it into a ball, then rolling it in the snow. With every roll, it gathers more snow, growing bigger and stronger. Before long, I’ve built the base of a snowman. As I stack more snowballs, the snowman takes shape. It’s not quite complete, so I add the eyes, nose and arms.
That’s exactly how goal setting works. The same approach should be applied:
What is your desired outcome (snowman)?
What do you need to get there, in how many steps (snowballs)?
What will you need to optimize your results (decorations, additions)?
And most importantly – “What can I do today (to start rolling that first snowball)?”
As the year winds down, it’s tempting to say, “I’ll start in January,” or, “I haven’t done anything all year, so what’s the point?” But waiting doesn’t build momentum. If you were thirsty, you would drink now and not wait until tomorrow.
Small actions today can spark big change tomorrow. Each healthy meal, each workout, each good night’s sleep, it all builds. One snowball becomes two, then three, until you’ve shaped something solid, strong, and uniquely yours.
So don’t wait for the calendar to flip. The last days of 2025 are a gift: a chance to move, dream, and build, one small action at a time.
And if you’re not sure where to begin, come see us at RobFit KinCentre. We’re pros at building snowmen, and even better at helping you build your strongest, happiest self. So, drop by, get the ball rolling and start gaining momentum.
